Magpie Pictures is a boutique Australian screen production company. We are passionate about creating and producing addictive television, and telling distinctive stories with authentic voices. We love collaboration and co-productions, and we're committed to increasing diversity on screen and behind the camera. We develop and produce Australian and International content from our offices located in Ballina, near Byron Bay in regional NSW, Australia.


Founder and Producer Lois Randall: Lois is an award winning Producer who was Executive Producer/Producer on Magpie Pictures’ series SWIFT STREET for SBS, created by Tig Terera and starring Tanzyn Crawford and Cliff Curtis, that premiered at Canneseries 2024. Previous Producer credits include the Goalpost Pictures series BLACK SNOW, starring Travis Fimmel for Stan and Sundance Now/AMC+, the Dollhouse feature SERIOUSLY RED starring Rose Byrne, Krew Boylan and Bobby Cannavale, and the reboot of SEACHANGE, an ITV and Every Cloud production for Nine. Through Magpie she was EP/Producer of children’s series GRACE BESIDE ME for NITV, ABC and Disney Channel, awarded SPA Children’s Series of the Year and nominated for the Prix Jeunesse UNESCO Prize, AACTA and LOGIE awards. She was also Producer for Every Cloud of SPA Miniseries of the Year THE GODS OF WHEAT STREET and EP on the AACTA winning DEADLOCK for ABC TV. General Manager Meredith Hussey: with over 20 years experience in film and television Meredith has worked in both production and art department, with credits including the multi award winning REDFERN NOW produced by Blackfella Films and the Goalpost Pictures series CLEVERMAN. Meredith spent two years working in San Francisco as the Unit Production Manager of MYTHBUSTERS and her experience also includes Studio films such as ALIEN: COVENANT directed by Ridley Scott. Since returning to Regional NSW in 2018, Meredith has been providing a clearance and product placement service, as well as working on local productions including NINE PERFECT STRANGERS, and NUT FARM, an independent film written by and starring Arj Barker.

Development Producer Claire Lindsay: Claire, who is a descendant of the Gamilaraay people of North West NSW, has over 15 years experience producing First Nations and Factual Entertainment programs, including WILD KITCHEN WITH CLAYTON DONOVAN for ABC. Claire has also segment produced stories for Network 7 lifestyle programs and worked as a Features Reporter for the ABC delivering top-performing multi-platform news and current affairs feature stories for television, radio and online. More recently she has pursued her passion for scripted screen stories including a Screen NSW Emerging Producer Placement in the Screen NSW Screen Investment team followed by a placement with Roadshow Rough Diamond where she worked across their development slate. Claire is job-sharing the role with Ree Evans, funded through Screen Australia’s Enterprise Business program 2024.

Development Producer Ree Evans: an emerging development creative with a passion for inclusive storytelling Ree has over 25 years experience in film and television production. She has worked for Magpie Pictures, Every Cloud, Beyond, ITV (Granada), Endemol (Southern Star), Foxtel, SBS, ABC, Seven, Nine and Dollhouse Pictures in producer, coordinator, and researcher roles, and created post production scripts for hundreds of hours of television at Reezy Miller Script Services. Ree was script coordinator on the Dollhouse feature SERIOUSLY RED, and mentored script coordination on BLACK SNOW, and SWIFT STREET. She has recently undertaken professional development including Script Assessment and Story Analysis with UCLA Extension and the Pixar Story Xperientials Course. Ree is job-sharing the role with Claire Lindsay, funded through Screen Australia’s Enterprise Business program 2024.

Producer Ivy Mak: Ivy is attached as Producer to several Magpie Pictures projects in development having produced Magpie’s drama series SWIFT STREET with Lois Randall after joining the company as a Producer through Screen Australia’s Enterprise Initiative in 2021. Prior to this she worked in development and production on scripted projects for Essential Media and Entertainment, Easy Tiger and Beyond Entertainment and has produced short films and webseries that have screened and won awards worldwide. Ivy is passionate about telling stories from hidden and under-represented demographics in an exciting and entertaining way and is currently developing a supernatural horror feature film MATRIARCH.
